Blackberry Barbecue Chicken

Alas, it is still bitter cold here in the lovely North-woods. February has been a surprisingly  busy month somehow, with wedding things and work and all the rest life has to offer. It surely seems there aren't enough hours in the day. On a (literally) brighter note, exactly one month from today is the first day of Daylights savings, where we will have some sweet light  earlier and later in the day. I've been doing a lot of experimenting in the kitchen, with a desire to expand the recipe database, and  since I don't live two blocks from the grocery store anymore, if I want to make something new I have to get creative with what's in the cupboards, or wait until I can stop at the store after work the next day. This recipe came about from a similar recipe I made last summer with peach jelly and peaches, and it was absolutely great and easy as pie. And perhaps inspired by the fact that I didn't have any peach jelly when it struck my fancy to make it again..... Perhaps....

Blackberry Barbecue Chicken

-1 package chicken drumsticks ( about 6)
- 1 container blackberry jam ( 10 ounces)
-2 cups barbeque sauce
-1/2 cup honey
-1 cup frozen blackberries
Directions: Combine all ingredients in slow cooker and cook on high 2 hours, then low for 3 hours.

Sweet and smoky, this is an amazingly easy  crock pot dish that I just love.

I can always appreciate an easy meal, and the crock pot  is a busy foodies dream come true. It's also a different flavor combination, so its a good one to throw in the rotation so you don't get bored taste-buds.  I want to try this recipe with some other jellies, possibly apple or raspberry... Enjoy!
