Goat Chevre and Peppers Pizza

I think I've had all the Chex mix, fudge, Russian Tea Cakes and Moscato a girl can rightfully consume during the Holidays without needing  to put on elastic- waist pants...

It's high time for a Detox, Kala style.

When I detox, I don't drink gallons of Canola oil followed by a can of beans, nor do I consume glasses of water mixed with Cayenne pepper. (While some of those detox diets surely have health benefits) I just eat only fresh organic food, and avoid meat, dairy, sugar and drink a ton of lemon water and tea. It's a pretty realistic way for me to get back to my healthy state, and I seem to feel pretty stellar at the end of it.

When I say peppers for this recipe, I mean peppadews and banana peppers. Strange combination you may be thinking, but they  are amazing together. My awesome girl's dinner night friend's and I came up with this when trying to decide what kind of pizza to make for one of our themes.

That's us.

We still manage to look pretty clever, despite the kayak- sized zucchini, don't you think?

I made this pizza again tonight because it's tasty, healthy, delicious,  and goes really well with a nice fresh salad. It's also really easy to whip out when you're ravenous after 2 hours at the gym!

Goat Chevre and Peppers Pizza

-1 whole wheat pizza crust
-1 cup chopped  peppadew peppers ( can be found in the olive section of most grocery stores)
12 oz. Goat Chevre, crumbled into chunks
-1 cup banana peppers
-1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
-2 T. olive oil
-2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
-1 t. garlic powder
-1 T. dried oregano
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix olive oil, minced garlic, garlic powder and oregano in a small bowl. Using a pastry brush, brush the mixture over the entire crust. Sprinkle the peppers and goat chevre on the  pizza. bake 10-12 minutes, until crust is crisp and cheese and peppers are browned slightly, sprinkle chopped fresh basil on top before serving.

The crust should be covered evenly with the oil mixture, like so.

I guarantee the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would do cartwheels at the sight of this pizza.

Peppadews are sweet and have a teensy bite, and the banana peppers tang blended perfectly with the chevre.

Pizza doesn't have to be sopping with grease and tomato sauce. This is a beautiful, easy to make healthy pizza that is a prime example of how you don't necessarily always  have to avoid some foods you love  to eat healthy, you just have to tweak them a bit.
