Red Berry Kiwi Smoothie

I have had an incredible sweet tooth this week. People are constantly asking me how I keep from snacking the day away when I'm baking so much, but the truth of the matter is, you get over a lot of desserts pretty fast. Especially when you make them several times a week for years on end. My fellow baker and friend and I were trying to figure how many Vegan Chocolate cake's ( a constant bestseller) we've made at our place of work in the last 5 years, and we figured it was about 750 each, (which is probably more like 1,000 in reality).
You just don't crave something after about the 500th time you make it, no matter how delicious and enticing it is, trust me.
I did show extreme strength and willpower during a very dark, sugar desiring moment today. I'm trying to be a healthy girl, and indulge in moderation only on weekends on my favorite vices. It doesn't stop me from envisioning an alternative universe  where Heineken and French silk pie are as good for you as a nice  long run and  juiced greens.  I made a tasty  smoothie to  get my sugar fix, and it was a delicious and pretty much guiltless treat that cured my sweet tooth quickly. I thought I'd share it in case anyone else is tempted to get a Cadbury Egg at Walgreen's like I was today....

Red Berry and Kiwi Smoothie
-2 kiwi's, peeled
-1/2 cup raspberries
-1/2 cup strawberries
-1 medium banana
-1/2 cup almond, soy, rice or cow's milk)
-1T. agave nectar or honey
-1T. Flax seeds
-1 t. cinnamon
-1 T. Whey powder ( optional)
-1/2 cup ice
Directions: combine all ingredients in a blender and process until blended. Then consume the smoothie  with a smile =)

It's sweet and delicious, just the thing for a mid-afternoon sugar fix!

Someone once told me they eat the skin of a kiwi and told me not to waste it
by not eating it. Being a big texture eater, it seemed like eating the skin would be like consuming the fur of some kind of terrier, and I couldn't eat a kiwi for months. Thank goodness I got over that...

You don't have to drink it in a mason jar. This is an  insight into the level of class in which we serve drinks in our house. We have mini ones for wine. It will be much more contextual for dinner parties when we live in the country in a few months =)
