Smoothies are a blast to make. Mostly because my big bulbous juicer is a pain in the arse to clean, but also because you can throw whatever tickles your pickle the mix and make it super healthy. Also, if your neighbors are being dinks, you can make one at 5 am before work like I did today, then it's a smoothie of sweet, sweet revenge. I also liked this particular smoothie because I tricked my fiance' and friend into drinking one without knowing it had a cup of spinach in it, and while they happily sipped, I proposed a spinach smoothie, and they both cried out in disturbed protest. When I told them they were drinking one, I lost a fair amount of trust in their eyes, to be sure... But hey, Popeye would be proud.
Raspberry Almond Spinach Smoothie
-1 cup raspberries
-1/4 cup raw unsalted almonds
-1 T. flax seeds
-1 cup spinach
-1 T. Honey
-1/2 cup almondmilk
Directions: In blender pulse flax seeds and almonds until finely ground. Add raspberries, spinach, honey and almondmilk and pulse until desired consistency. Makes 1 smoothie.
You can't even taste the spinach, and the end result is a protein-packed delicious drink. I love these after the gym when I'm ravenous but only have a few hours until dinner, and it replenishes and makes me feel great. Enjoy!!
